The Western Washington University Vikings hockey team played the Gonzaga Bulldogs twice at Bellingham Sportsplex over the weekend, winning both games by a combined score of 21-7.

It was the third-straight game that the Vikings scored double-digit goals, improving the overall record to 10-1-0 on the season and extending its current winning streak to eight games. The Vikings remain perfect on home-ice this season at 4-0-0.

Friday’s 10-4 win for the Vikings saw eight different players score goals, including a hat trick by forward Declan Quinn, his first in the ACHA.

Saturday’s 11-3 victory followed a similar script, as the Vikings got multi-goal games from Bret Brumbaugh, Andrew Fan, Aaron James and Ethan Secord. Secord notched a hat trick in the win, his first in the ACHA.

Goaltender Jack Wildhirt stopped 17 of 21 shots on Friday and 21 of 24 on Saturday. Wildhirt improved his record to 5-1-0 on the season.

Western will continue its eight-game homestand at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, against the University of Idaho Vandals at Bellingham Sportsplex.
